Security Architect

    At Aflac NI, we are building a diverse, multi-function Cyber Security Team to support our Global Security Program protecting our customers in the US & Japan. The Aflac NI Security Team will grow to over 30 and take ownership of key components of the security program. We are integrating with the Global Security Team to strengthen existing functions and build new capabilities.     The Role

    We are currently hiring for a Security Architect for Aflac’s Global Security Program. The successful candidate will work with the Security Architecture and Security Engineering Teams in Aflac NI, ensuring that information security principles are embodied in the design and implementation of Aflac’s digital services. They will research, analyse, design, propose and prototype solutions to protect Aflac’s information assets while supporting business and technology strategies.

    The Security Architect will participate in the development of a technology roadmap, identify key interfaces and components impacting security posture, propose changes to application frameworks to enhance security and identify security gaps in existing architecture and opportunities for improving our security posture.

    They will perform system analysis and design, system modelling, integration planning and technology component selection to ensure architectural consistency and coherence between technical and business processes.

    This role will initially focus on the delivery of Aflac’s Data Protection Program but will change over time as new challenges arise.

    What you’ll be doing

    • Initially serve as the security architect and subject matter expert for the Data Protection Programme.
    • Develop solution architectures and patterns for security services, ensuring that they meet the business and technical requirements.
    • Provide architectural oversight to security engineering projects and architectural support for other information technology projects.
    • Peer review existing and proposed architectures and designs to identify potential issues and any opportunities to resolve them.
    • Represent information security or security architecture on all relevant technology governance committees.
    • Coach peers and constituents on integrating security into strategic and tactical decisions.
    • Research and evaluate security products and industry trends to assist in project delivery and operational support activities.
    • Participate in the development of the security technology roadmap and technology strategy for the information security organisation.
    • Analyse and evaluate the current and proposed corporate application portfolio to validate enforcement of security principles.
    • Work with security engineers to develop effective technical standards that embody the data protection security principles.
    • Work collaboratively with a wide range of business, technical and security professionals to help achieve Aflac’s security objectives.
    • Deliver presentations and participate in events to assist with building Aflac NI’s reputation in the local security community

    What you need to have

    Essential

    Bachelor's Degree or Masters in IT, Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or equivalent work experience.
    5+ years technical experience in architecting or engineering information security solutions.
    Ability to create reference security architectures and articulate them to stakeholders at all levels


    Desirable

    Professional architecture or security certification such as CISSP, CCSP, AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate/Professional or other similar credentials.
    Expertise and in-depth working knowledge of cloud platforms preferably AWS.
    Knowledge of cloud networking architecture, cloud operations, cloud-based identity access and management, security, automation, and orchestration.
    Professional experience in the Insurance or financial services sector.
    Experience working within an agile delivery framework.
