Quality Analyst

  • Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Quality Analyst to work on an Agile Scrum team that develops, maintains, and supports .Net insurance software products. In this role, you will be expected to test user stories and defects to ensure that the agreed acceptance criteria are met. You would be required to manually test our software, research problems, research various solutions, and devise on fixes for those problems.  The role focuses primarily on testing new user stories as they are developed as well as the regression and exploratory test of existing applications.  You must be able to work in a collaborative environment where the team is a self-managing cohesive unit striving to constantly improve its velocity in delivering high quality business software on time.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Designs and creates test plans and test cases
    • Identifies defects in existing software, and verifies that defects have been correctly fixed
    • Tests new functionality and runs regression testing to determine if its functioning as intended
    • Provides concise and accurate project test status updates when appropriate
    • Estimates work effort based on agreed user stories and acceptance criteria
    • Advises on and implements automate tests where possible at an Acceptance Test level (ATDD) to help the team develop a full suite of automated tests
    • Has an active input into Agile ceremonies such as product backlog grooming, release planning, retrospectives and reviews
    • Provides team with feedback from planning and refinement sessions
    • Backup and update test machines when required
    • Work with development debugging as and when required

     

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS JOB

    • Education: Ideally educated to degree level (BSc or BEng) or equivalent in Computer Science or a related discipline
    • Minimum of 2 years experience working in the field of software quality assurance
    • Working knowledge with SQL to create queries
    • Experience with or the ability/desire to learn using automated testing tools
    • Familiarity of working with development languages, C#, Java, C
    • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
    • A team player with great communication
