Software Engineer II - Investor Communications

  We are looking for an Intermediate Software Engineer to join us in our Belfast Centre of Excellence as part of the Apex Investment Communications team. This team will modernise the financial reporting, data transformation, investor communications by using new tools and leveraging efficiencies through cloud infrastructure. The Investor Communications team are free to explore unique solutions and try fresh ideas that may benefit our financial services and trading businesses, and our investment companies. You’ll collaborate with some of tech’s sharpest minds to solve for the firm’s ever-changing but exciting challenges. Working in tech at PEAK6 means that you’ll always be presented with a variety of new possibilities as you continue to enhance your skills. 

  We use an agile approach with 2-week sprints, deliverables, and demos, but always reserve time for technical debt, quality assurance, and experimentation. We’re organized in small “feature teams”, each with its own feature captain and direct relationship with product management.    The skills you'll need to succeed: 

  • Applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • 2+ years of professional experience working as a part of a multi-person development team, doing code reviews, testing, CI, trunk-based development, and/or other modern software practices 
  • A proficiency and understanding of at least one of the following core languages: C++, or C# or Java or Go. 
  • Experience in RDBMS design and writing SQL queries. 
  • Demonstrated skills in software design 
  • Interest in learning new technologies (languages, tools, frameworks) 
  • Adaptability: while you enjoy establishing process and standards, you understand the need to be flexible and enjoy trying new things 
  • A  DevSecOps mindset and a driving desire to deliver value through software 

   Desirable: 

  • Experience with cloud-native applications and infrastructure-as-code
