Senior Front End Developer

• FIRE! The Belfast team's portfolio in the fire space is expanding and we're looking for talented engineers to support this growth.

  The team currently own an application used to track firefighter duties. The plan is to transition up to another four applications in the next calendar year. The Belfast team will have full autonomy over all applications, from implementation right through to delivery into production. Come and help us to better support those working day to day, on the front-line! 

  Reporting to the Development Manager you will be part of our Engineering team.  

   

  What You’ll Be Doing – the day-to-day

   You can expect to:

  • Have significant impact on the product experiences of tens of thousands of people who will be viewing and interacting with your solutions.
  • Be a core part of our engineering team, with tangible impact on a range of applications that we build. 
  • Push the envelope on the aesthetic quality of the experiences we provide. 
  • Mentor other developers who aspire to grow their front-end knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively cross-team, in order to impart your expertise across ESO.

   

  Who You Are - some of the essential things required to be successful in the role:

  • Five plus years’ experience in software engineering developing highly reactive user experiences
  • Your experience should include;

  o   Angular/React/Typescript (or similar UI framework)

  o   Unit testing and mocking frameworks

  o   Git for source control

  • You should also;

  o   Have a deep understanding of OO concepts and design patterns 

  o   Be well versed in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment practices

  o   Have a deep understanding of testing philosophy (e.g. the test pyramid)

  o   Have a passion for what you do and understanding how your work impacts ESO’s success

   

  Who You Are – it’s desirable if you have any of the following:

  • Exposure to Microservice architectures
  • Exposure to Cloud Platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP)
  • Knowledge of Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing and CQRS patterns
