    Your role in the team

    We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join Allstate Northern Ireland as we evolve our applications toward transformative growth Our team develops and enhances applications used by agents and contact center representatives to support customers’ life insurance policies. The team is responsible for building web apps and component services. Engineers on the team are experienced in Java, ASP.Net, C#, and SQL.

    We work in a DevOps environment which also includes systems administration-style work such as scripting deploys and setting up CI/CD pipelines.

    You will participate in the full software development lifecycle which will include requirements gathering, planning, development, testing, and deployment. We work in an Agile SCRUM environment with 2-week sprints and we embrace a self-directed/self-managed approach

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

    • All candidates must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Software Developer
    • Experience coding in Java and using Oracle or SQL Server
    • Experience guiding other team members
    • Experience with design reviews and code reviews
    • Experience in application security, identification and remediation of vulnerabilit

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

    • Experienced in developing applications using any of the following: AJAX, Apache, ASP.NET, C#, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, REST, SOAP, SEEC, Tibco, Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere (WAS)
    • Experience in environments with CI/CD pipelines and tool automation (Artifactory, Git/GitHub, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy, SonarQube)
    • Collaborate and communicate well with others, strong written and verbal communication, comfortable with varying (and reactive) daily responsibilities
    • Break down business problems into solvable components to recommend solutions
