    Your role in the team

    We are looking for an experienced React JS Developer to play key role within the Allstate Canada Broker Enablement global team which comprises members from Allstate Northern Ireland, Canada and India.  The team has responsibility for support and development of a suite of applications supporting the Allstate Canada Broker body.

    One key area of development is the Broker Portal Web Application.  Brokers log into a portal where they can view and update policies. The application has been built using .Net MVC and jQuery, and we are now designing future functionality using the ReactJS framework.  

    The team aligns to the Agile Scrum methodology.

    • Implementation of assigned user stories
    • Adherence to working practices as defined in the team documentation
    • Adherence to coding standards and best practices as defined in the team documentation
    • Conduct code reviews to ensure consistent adherence to standards and to make recommendations where necessary
    • Delivery of high-quality documentation as required
    • Active participation in the Agile regular meetings: daily standups, planning meetings, demos and retrospectives
    • Work effectively with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, Technical Lead, Business Stakeholders and other technology teams in order to achieve success within agile delivery frameworks
    • Willingness to embrace the flexibility of agile development and support fellow team members
    • Contribute to the design of technical solutions
    • General support of fully integrated, highly available production environments
    • Analysis of information systems processes and monitoring of key performance metrics

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

    • A minimum of 4+ years in a software development role  
    • Full understanding of the SDLC, including programming and testing
    • Experience with common development tools and practices (e.g. Visual Studio, JUnit, GitHub, Jenkins); and
    • Experience of the following:
      • React JS
      • TDD

    We also have some desirable criteria

    • Experience working in Agile (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP) environments
    • Have experience working in a global team
    • Experience of:
      • C# .Net Framework (4.x)
      • MVC .Net
      • Java
      • RESTful WebAPI development
      • SQL skills
      • CI/CD integration using Jenkins and related tools
