    Job Description

     

     

    As our MongoDB DBA you’ll help us in supporting Allstate MongoDB stack in area of fast growth. This role will focus on providing MongoDB support to application teams and Business areas across the Allstate Enterprise. You’ll help us in creating database structures for medium to large projects, provides support in the day to day operational management of Database Technologies and aids in software maintenance lifecycle management with little to no assistance.  You will have the opportunity to analyze, consult and recommend different options for database performance tuning, database configuration implementation, create and maintains scripts and test plan execution. Here at Allstate, no two days are the same and you will be participating in enterprise incident, change and problem management activities

     

     

    Develop your career by collaborating in the management and championing of emerging database technologies with concentration in the MongoDB. You will work alongside business areas on data design, enterprise strategy and data enablement for NoSQL databases. We’re open to hearing how you could streamline redundant operations and automate recurring tasks through scripting and use of modern technologies. You will analyze database workloads, identify problem spots and design solutions to address these problems using monitoring and alerting tools. More importantly you will develop your career by educating and mentoring other database administrators.

     

     

    Hours of work

     

    • Standard hours Mon – Fri;
    • Flexibility to meet business needs as required;
    • Full time only.

     

     

    Essential criteria – Candidates should clearly state on their application form how they meet each of the essential criteria as these will be assessed during shortlisting and only these deemed to meet all of the below criteria will move forward to the next stage.

     

     

    • Have a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a data professional
    • 3+ years in database management, testing, scripting and / or configuration
    • Experience in MongoDB and knowledge across one or more other data store platforms (MySQL, Oracle, Redis, SQL Server)
    • Experience working on cross functional teams
    • Must be a UK/RoI/EU citizen or possess a current UK visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment.  EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.

       

     

     

     

     

    Desirable Criteria – These criteria may be used where we have a high number of applicants

     

    • Experience with Cloud providers (particularly AWS) and open source software.
    • Agile Methodologies and Practices
    • Solid written and verbal communications skills
    • Passion for learning and working with new technology
