    Your role in the team

     

    Allstate Business Insurance (ABI) are seeking several talented and enthusiastic Full Stack Developers to help implement and support a new platform rollout for Commercial Auto products as part of our Transformative Growth Plans.

     

    We are helping build the next generation Insurance Engine for ABI using the market-leading Duck Creek SaaS solution and you will join a team that will design and executes IT-related activities that are of a complex and critical nature.

     

    The successful candidates will attend Duck Creek University (virtual training) and will be part of a team to design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, and implement Duck Creek Rating & Policy to build new insurance products and lines of business that meet all business & technical requirements for ABI. 

     

    The team will work in an Agile environment, promoting continuous learning, collaboration and offers an exciting opportunity to join a newly formulated team that have a passion for software development while offering a fantastic new product that supports the company’s growth plans.

     

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

     

    • Participate in product scoping, discovery and framing, and inceptions providing technical input and helps translate user features into system design
    • Participates in and learn to lead inceptions and iteration planning meetings, infusing backlogs with technical input working in close partnership with the product manager
    • Participates in daily site, cross-site, and product team standups
    • Participates in retrospectives; demonstrating and encouraging each participant to provide feedback with empathy
    • Participates and collaborates with the Principal engineer in the effort of shaping the architecture and design of the product
    • Collaborates on strategy across product portfolios in partnership with product managers, other peers and key stakeholders
    • Distinguished advocate of multiple technology stacks and shares that knowledge across organizations
    • Actively uses paired programming and test-driven development in writing software and building products
    • Establishes continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices
    • Participates in knowledge sharing and contributes to the overall growth of the collective knowledge across various areas of the business
    • Understands the technical details, integration, and functions of a SaaS application 

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • 3+ years software development experience
    • Experience of Java, C# or similar object-oriented programming language
    • Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks  
    • Be able to demonstrate a passion for learning and learning agility; and
    • Team player focusing on success of the team with excellent communications skills.
    • Must be a UK/RoI/EU citizen or possess a current UK visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment.  EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Knowledge of the Spring Framework
    • Experience working in an eXtreme Programming (XP) or agile environment
    • Experience in Test Driven Development; including knowledge and experience in testing frameworks and approaches for automated testing
    • Familiarity with open source software (Ruby, Python, Golang, etc)
    • Able to learn new technologies, and teach other members of the team
    • Experience with Tibco BusinessWorks
