    Job Description

    The P&C Billing system supports both Allstate and Encompass brands and the system runs on legacy mainframe platform and is by far largest Billing system within Allstate in terms of policies in force with >20 million policies.

    The candidate will be responsible for actively participating in our learning culture; including coaching and mentoring staff, stakeholders and peers.  Success in this role comes from production support experience and great communication skills. Exhibit strong sense of ownership and ability to work in global team environment.

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

    • Provide technical support for Mainframe production cycles jobs and troubleshoots issues by helping to provide root cause and future proofing to prevent future occurrences whilst working with other application teams and areas.
    • Answering Data research questions from Business or Security
    • Assistance with monitoring for application availability
    • Performing data fixes for business partners
    • Run audits for regulators and compliance
    • Involvement in infrastructure upgrades
    • Investigate problems and incidents and coordinate with other stakeholders to find good solutions
    • Applies business and IT knowledge as a basis to drive optimal technology and business solutions
    • Develops innovative solutions and systems to support strategic business unit objectives
    • Revises current practices; leads innovation in service delivery
    • Represents area of professional and/or technical expertise for Allstate
    • Provides influence and authoritative advice
    • Works in both waterfall and agile delivery
    • Ensures billing meets its compliance requirements
    • Partners with appropriate the technology organizational groups to provide necessary operations / environment / desktop documentation
    • Applies business and IT knowledge as a basis to drive optimal technology and business solutions
    • Ensure high levels of collaboration with application development leadership.
    • Provide additional support to existing production support procedures.
    • Interact with infrastructure, release management, change management, Flight, DBA and application teams.
    • Provide regular status reports to management on application status and other metrics.

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • 3+ years’ experience Mainframe Application Development; and
    • 1+ years’ experience of writing and running SQL queries in production, e.g. DB2; and
    • 1+ years’ experience of batch processing languages, e.g. JCL; and
    • 1+ years’ experience of 1 or more of following technologies: Rational Team Concert, Github, Jenkins; and
    • Previous production support experience, e.g. monitoring, incident work, infrastructure upgrades; and
    • Exposure to ITIL processes, e.g. ServiceNow etc.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Agile/Scrum workflow management (JIRA, confluence)
    • Source control and Continuous Integration tools (GitHub, Jenkins, Octopus)
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups and all organizational levels
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Must be self-motivated with the ability to accomplish tasks independently
    • Ability to effectively work with a globally distributed cross-functional team
    • Proven Billing domain knowledge
    • IMS knowledge
    • Experience of using SAS
    • Business Objects knowledge
