  Job Description

  The Automation and Orchestration team has an opening for a Full Stack Engineer on one of its XP teams based in the CompoZed Lab in Belfast. The Automation and Orchestration teams help optimize and modernize Allstate process and systems by providing new cloud ready solutions to existing activities.

  The successful candidate will work as part of a Full Stack development team leveraging a focused product mindset and XP development practices, they will provide solutions in Java, the Spring Framework, HTML5, CSS as well as extensive use of JavaScript (primarily Node.JS, ReactJS).

  The Automation and Orchestration team are focused on delivering value quickly and moving on to new problem domains, so all team members will get experience of the full product lifecycle on a regular basis.

  Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

  • Apply best practice design principles including SOLID and Twelve Factor to all deliverables
  • Safeguarding XP engineering disciplines, specifically TDD, pairing and rotation
  • Implement stories defined and prioritized by the product manager
  • Coach junior engineers to help them grow into their roles on the team

  Essential Criteria

  • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
  • Have at least 4 years I.T. experience
  • Be able to demonstrate a passion for learning and learning agility; and
  • Excellent communications skills

  Hours of work

  • Flexibility to meet business needs as required;
  • Full Time or Compressed Fortnight (where the team can align);
  • Office based 5 days per week (or Compressed Fortnight where applicable);
  • Core hours are 10am-5pm Mon-Thu, 10am-4pm Fri
  • Overtime requirements are negligible and not considered part of the XP ethos.
  • On-call commitments are possible however product and platform designs are aimed at keeping this minimal.
