    Job Description

    We are pleased to announce Application DBA role opening within Infrastructure Services Group (ISG). 

    This position will be a part of the global SQL Server team that provides support to Business Areas across the Allstate Enterprise.

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

    • Ensure day-to-day running of SQL Server estate through monitoring of disk space, backups, log shipping, database mirroring, clustering, availability groups and troubleshooting failed jobs.
    • Managing the performance of the SQL databases
    • Conduct troubleshooting on application databases, resolving issues without excessive downtime or any data loss.
    • Validate data and perform testing to ensure that the database systems meet end user's requirements. Ensuring that data is intact, correct, and accessible after a server migration, SQL upgrade or backup.
    • Gather requirements to design and structure databases to ensure they meet functional requirements.
    • Adhere to best practices around database security and access.

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • 3+ years SQL Server Experience in Windows 2012 or higher server environment
    • Knowledge of database administration tasks such as backups, database recovery, security, high availability and Disaster Recovery architecture working with SQL 2012-2017 environments
    • Knowledge of performance tuning

    Desirable Criteria

    • Scripting in PowerShell or Python
    • Agile Methodologies and Practice
    • Solid written and verbal communications skills
    • Passion for learning and working with new technology.
