    Job Description

    The Allstate NI has an exciting opportunity for Senior Technical Lead to join a great team of technologist within Alliance – Product Technology. Alliance, known as the crown jewels of Allstate insurance, is currently transforming the core development environment, adopting modern tooling and working to a cloud ready strategy.

    The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to work on designing and building solutions that will be used in the future platform for Allstate Alliance insurance.  

    This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated candidate who relishes the prospect of taking ownership of a critical Allstate Application, acting as a change agent, building the technical and business skillset on a dynamic global team. 

    The candidates will have significant opportunity to be hands as an individual contributor and will be involved in leading coaching/ mentoring/ training other team members from Alliance in India, Northern Ireland and the USA.

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to)

    • Lead the technical direction across several key teams
    • Be involved in strategic projects with a focus on looking after asset health
    • Lead POC’s and technical directions of future solutions within the group
    • Senior point of contact for both ANI Alliance and the wider global Alliance team
    • Be involved in management level conversations around strategy and road mapping
    • Mentor, coach and provide on-the–job training for other team members in relevant technologies and/or processes including the creation and improvement of training materials
    • Create and improve technical processes within a technical leadership group
    • Liaise with stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and build solutions
    • Drive improvement and innovation across the business area
    • Stay up-to-date on development methodology, architecture design and technical standards, and translate it into effective business and client solutions

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • 5+ years of software development experience (core language: Java) in an Agile environment, preferably using Test Driven Development (TDD)
    • Minimum 3 years Java/J2EE experience in development and implementation of web based transactional applications using Core JAVA, LINUX, SOAP/HTTP/Web Services
    • Solid experience in developing REST API for complex systems.
    • Ability to work well with people at all levels, empowering collaboration globally
    • Ability to solve problems in a timely, structured manner with strong analytical approach.
    • Experience/knowledge in working in an Agile environment
    • Ability to Coach/mentor other tech resources globally

    Desirable Criteria

    • Experience with Spring Boot Frameworks
    • JavaScript frameworks such as REACT
