  Job Description

  Allstate NI has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Lead to join a great team of technologists within the Alliance API Operations team. Alliance, one of the crown jewels of Allstate insurance, is currently transforming the core development environment, moving towards full API/Service Enablement and cloud readiness.

  The successfully candidate will be given the opportunity to work on designing and building solutions that will be used in the future platform for Allstate Alliance insurance.

  This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated candidate who relishes the prospect of involvement in development of a critical Allstate Application, acting as a change agent, as well as building their technical and business skillset on a dynamic global team.

  The candidates will have significant opportunity to be hands-on as an individual contributor and as a technical lead for others on the team by leading, mentoring and coaching as required.

   

  Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

  • Help lead the technical direction of the team
  • Be involved in strategic projects with a focus on cementing the service enablement strategy
  • Contribute to POC’s (Proof of Concept) and technical discussions on future direction of API Ops
  • Mentor, coach and provide on-the–job training for other team members in relevant technologies and/or processes including the creation and improvement of training materials
  • Liaise with stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and build solutions
  • Drive improvement and innovation across the business area

  Essential Criteria

  • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
  • Minimum of 4 years development experience;
  • Minimum 3 years Java/J2EE experience in development and implementation of web based transactional applications using Core JAVA
  • Ability to solve problems in a timely, structured manner with strong analytical approach.
  • Experience/knowledge in working in an Agile environment
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels, empowering collaboration globally

  Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of Spring
  • REACT
  • Test Driven Development (TDD) (E.g. JUNITs)
