Data Visualisation Engineer

  • PwC Operate delivers operational and managed services solutions to clients across a range of situations often associated with their regulatory, risk and/or compliance agendas. Operate has a rapidly growing Technology team based in Belfast that is dedicated to researching, developing, testing, implementing and supporting innovative technology solutions for the wider PwC organisation and its clients and stakeholders.

    Operate Technology is seeking Data Visualisation Developers to create high-quality and comprehensible visualisations for a wide array of stakeholders (management to executive level) within our diverse and multi-skilled Data & Analytics team. Data & Analytics supports the firm and client projects by utilising modern technology and scripting languages to transform, analyse and report on business critical information needed for PwC staff and clients to make decisions in the most efficient way possible.

    In addition to joining the Data & Analytics team, you will also form part of the wider technology team, allowing you to gain valuable exposure to modern technologies including; Robotic Process Automation, Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing) and Rapid Application Development.

    Your Responsibilities

    As an Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive industry experience to help our teams solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include:

    • Transforming, analysing and producing reports and dashboards to a range of stakeholders including Operate, wider PwC and our clients;

    • Understanding business and technical requirements; develop, document and implement solution design;

    • Forging and building new relationships throughout Operate to ensure the visibility of the Technology team’s production capability;

    • Hands on delivery of solutions throughout the entire life cycle, including day-to-day management of ongoing engagements;

    • Ensure that deliverables meet or exceed functional, technical and performance requirements, and;

    • Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen.

    Essential Requirements

    • Proven experience and background in data visualisation to a wide range of stakeholders.

    • Experience with data visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlikview, Microstrategy, Google Data Studio or comparable;

    • Experience with SQL;

    • Educated to degree level in any subject or relevant industry experience, preferably in an IT-related discipline;

    • Strong analytical skills with experience in problem solving and being able to implement and deliver solutions;

    • Willingness to expand technical knowledge in a broad range of client facing projects;

    • Proven ability to be a team player, while retaining the ability to work independently with little supervision;

    • Proven capability to communicate verbally and in writing with stakeholders at a variety of levels

    • Experience in data handling, manipulation and reporting, and;

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets.

    Desirable Requirements

    • Experience with self-service data analytics platforms such as Alteryx, Microsoft Flow, Google DataFlow or comparable;

    • Experience with AngularJS, D3.js, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Python, R or comparable;

    • Exposure to any elements of Artificial Intelligence such as Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning
