Senior Developer


    We are looking for a first-class UX Developer with the drive, enthusiasm and expertise necessary to bring our customers’ requirements to fruition. You will work with the wider team to create WOW that comes with exceeding expectations and delivering the highest standard of user experience. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will be joining the team as we embark upon a period of significant growth.     By using results-driven technologies, we create solutions for them to excite, engage and empower learners.Developers turn customer feature requirements & requests into reality. They improve and expand the functionality of the systems. Developers understand in-depth how the applications are built. They provide advice into how the application should function and suggest improvements where possible.

    In addition Senior Developers make themselves available at all times to help their colleagues while still delivering their work on-quality and  on-time.


    • Must have at least 3 or more years experience in a Senior Development role

    • The successful candidate must have a strong desire to always help colleagues as an escalation point for when they are stuck on a problem. This skill must remain strong even when working on your own development projects.

    • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline


    • Develop plugins & core changes to Virtual Learning Environments in PHP

    • Guarantee high quality, on-time and on-budget delivery of projects

    • Ensure highest quality of documentation

    • Work collaboratively with all colleagues to ensure highest standard of all development activities

    • Peer Review colleagues work (code and documentation) and suggest improvements where possible

    • Review scheduled project tasks for time estimation accuracy

    • Demonstrate best practice approach to documentation & encourage colleagues to do the same

    • Assist in helping to mentor, train & support a team of UX Developers & PHP Developers

    • Suggest and help implement changes and optimisations to current development processes and workflows


    • Aligned with Synergy Learning’s Vision & Values

    • Have in-depth knowledge of PHP and development best practices

    • Analyse Specification documents for accuracy and clarity

    • In-depth knowledge of JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX & HTML

    • Strong knowledge of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)

    • Expert in Virtual Learning Environments (specifically Moodle & Totara)

    • Excellent knowledge of PHP Unit & Behat testing

    • Strong communication, initiative & collaboration skills

    • Version Control (eg. Git) best practice

    • Linux Shell scripting

    • In-depth knowledge of behat testing & continuous integration technologies.

    • Work collaboratively with all colleagues to ensure highest standard of all development activities
