  Job Description

  The Policy Admin area within AllstateNI has been established for many of years now. As the teams have developed so too has the complexity of the work we deliver and the roles we perform. As a result, we have an opening for an experienced Java Developer within the Product Service Integration area.

  You will work as part of the Java\Web Application development community with over 700 technologists working on an extremely large & complex platform using the most modern tools & techniques.  You will also gain experience of Building Web Services, Support & build highly available database solutions and work on leading Edge User Interfaces.

  The role will allow you to specialize in building responsive web applications that scale to millions of customers, while working with a team of like-minded high-calibre developers to translate user requirements into a working application.  You will be routinely building complex solutions to business needs.

  Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to): 

  • Create and implement technical solutions to business needs
  • Liaise with stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and build solutions
  • Prepare and execute all phases of the SDLC (Agile Scrum) to agreed standards and specifications.
  • Participate in quality reviews and Demos.
  • Drive improvement and innovation across your team
  • Mentor, coach and provide on-the–job training for other team members in relevant technologies and/or processes including the creation and improvement of training materials

  
  Essential Criteria 

  • 3-4 years development experience with minimum 2-3 years as a Java Developer
  • Java/J2EE experience in development and implementation of web based transactional applications using EJB, Servlets, Java Beans, JSP, HTML, DHTML, Struts, XML and Java Script on Web Sphere and Web Logic, Oracle SQL
  • Good Knowledge of Spring Batch
  • Object Oriented Programming and Design, UML, experience with Java design patterns
  • IBM/Rational toolset - RAD (Rational Application Developer) or ECLIPSE
  • Working knowledge of WAS
  • SOAP/HTTP/Web Services
  • DB2 and Oracle
  • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment

  
  Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in working in an Agile environment
  • Test Driven Development (TDD) (E.g. JUNITs)
  • Knowledge of systems that support Continuous Integration (CI systems) - GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, REACT, Angular
  • Acceptance testing tools for UI scripting (E.g. Robot Framework, Selenium Scripts etc.)
  • PEN Testing (E.g. AppScan)
  • Static Code Analysis Tools (E.g. PMD)
