Solution Architect

  • Novosco was formed in 2007 from a merger with two leading ICT companies in Northern Ireland, Real Time Systems and 4sol Ltd with the Novosco brand name derived from two Latin Words, meaning ‘new understandings’.

    We have acquired other businesses since then, and are now the market leader in Ireland for Cloud services with a growing presence in the UK. We currently employ around 200 staff in total at the moment with ambitious growth plans due to ongoing expansion in our market.

    Main Purpose of the Job: As a Solution Architect you will interact directly with clients and other members of the Novosco team to conceive and implement a technology solution. You are expected to become an expert in the Design and Implementation of the Novosco Public Cloud solutions with a particular focus on leveraging AWS and Microsoft Azure, along with any other future Public Cloud Providers.

    In collaboration with the sales team, Solution Architects are relied upon to establish credibility and confidence with customers/prospects and partners during the sales and implementation processes. You will help Novosco develop and maintain our “trusted advisor” status with customers by helping to identify customer business objectives and designing complex technical solutions to address these needs. You will utilise a wide range of technologies and have the confidence and skill to document the solution in a variety of mediums to present to customers or partners at Senior Management and Board level.

    You will have the consultancy skills to be able to discuss and agree potential solutions and be able to work with Account Managers to close an opportunity and be recognised within Novosco as an expert in complex solution design and delivery.

    As well as working closely with the sales team the Solutions Architect has an integral part to play in the successful delivery of the solution either on their own or as part of a team in the role of technical lead, having the necessary technical and project management skills to deliver the solution in a professional way, on time and within budget.

    You will be required to provide input on Quality Assurance for the technical components of proposals responses and work carried out by yourself and other members of Novosco when requested.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities: Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following
    • Business Development
    • Create strategic road maps for Enterprise customers
    • Responsible for large scale bid management
    • Assist Account Managers in proposal/tender creation and development as and when required
    • Proactively identifying opportunities for Novosco
    • Assistance with the evaluation, planning, specification and design of new installations i.e. technical projects, tender proposals, change control, and technical knowledge transfer.
    • Encourage technical staff in “finding” sales leads, or income generating work and service time
    • Help to build relationships with partner organisations - Microsoft/VMware/EMC/Cisco/Citrix and other partners
    • Assist with product Marketing e.g. case study development as and when required
    • Contribute to the overall development of the company’s internal systems and customer base.

    Coaching and Mentoring as required to develop work colleagues and Novosco skills
    • Encourage and support all staff in all areas of work to ensure a high standard of delivery of services both internally and externally to customers. This will include site visits during projects and ongoing evaluation of the issues around service delivery
    • Support and encourage all technical team members in their respective roles

    Project Management
    • Assist the Project Manager with project management for public and private sector installations to include project definition, acceptance criteria, risk analysis, monitoring and sign-off
    • Oversee project management for smaller projects with Customer Support Manager.
    • Reinforce and ensure project mandate detail is correct and on project completion that they are signed off by the customer
    • Manage multiple assignments and tasks as well as providing timely and accurate completion
    • Conduct technical project reviews

    Communications - Communicate effectively at all levels within the company
    • Technical Meetings - Use meetings as hub for communication information as necessary in all directions between sales, business development, finance, operations and the Board
    • Be part of the team to facilitate the resolution of complex technical and business problems, which have an impact on technical methods, service levels, or financial results of the company. Requires evaluating recommendations of others, deciding on course of action in ambiguous situations and applying innovative solutions

    Product Evaluation
    • Will help define and lead the R & D activities of the technical department in the testing and evaluation of emerging technologies
    • Attend our technology partner product days/round tables sessions and communicate back to technical team and operational team

    • Co-ordinate with senior technical staff to provide detailed templates for solution design and implementation of the various solutions that Novosco has to offer
    • Assistance with the preparation and maintenance of a technical information knowledge base for use by the company and by other authorised external users
    • Review documentation completed by technical team members and make recommendations as necessary

    Internal Systems

    Review internal systems with the objective of improving security and performance,

    Skills & Attributes Required:
    • Experience in Microsoft Lync, Microsoft Enterprise and the Microsoft stack
    • Experience in “Enterprise” level project design and implementation
    • Good understanding of project management Prince2 methodology and project management skills
    • Good problem solving and decision making skills.
    • Professional approach to and understanding of the need to focus on highly professional service delivery
    • Excellent written and oral presentation skills
    • Self managing – able to recognise and prioritise workload, use initiative and take ownership of tasks
    • Professional approach to all work activities both internal and external
    • Self-motivated and able to work effectively either alone or as part of a team

    Additional Information

    Training: Internal training on products and services will be provided. However, staff are expected to consistently keep abreast of new developments, which would impact on their areas of responsibility.     Conditions of Employment Salary: The salary and benefits for this position will be determined according to the experience of the person appointed.
