Associate Front End Engineer

• How You’ll Support Our Mission

  Our Registry team in Belfast owns the development of a greenfield application used by hospitals to record a patients journey and provide life-changing insights to healthcare improvements. 
   
  We are augmenting one of the teams with an Associate Front End Engineer. Our engineering teams leverage modern, cloud-based serverless architectural patterns as well as the latest CI/CD DevOps tooling and processes. 
   
  Our application uses Angular with SCSS and Jasmine and Karma for unit testing. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to an engineering wide shared component library (using PrimeNG), which is used by many teams at ESO to allow for knowledge share and consistency across apps.
   
  You will have the chance to join a growing and passionate team, working on critical products, whilst being supported with training opportunities and being mentored by one of Belfast’s leading UI Engineers. There will also be an opportunity to join our engineering wide Frontend guild, aimed at discussing the latest trends, sharing knowledge, and bringing that back to the Registry space.  Joining our team will be an amazing and truly rewarding experience. 
  
  The Belfast Registry team have full autonomy over all applications, from implementation right through to delivery into production. You will be part of the Product Engineering team, reporting to the Development Manager.

  • While your primary focus will be on Front End tasks, you will have the opportunity to delve into testing, development, communication with designers, and various other areas at ESO!

   

  Who You Are - some of the essential things required to be successful in the role:  

  • At least 1+ years’ experience in software engineering.
  • A desire to enhance user experiences.
  • Your experience should include;

  • Web/ application development in JavaScript
  • Angular/React/Typescript (or similar UI framework).

  • Git for source control
  • Have an awareness of testing philosophy (e.g. the test pyramid).  

   

  Who You Are - it's desirable if you have any of the following: 

  • Someone who has experience working within a product team
  • Awareness of Cloud Platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP)
  • Awareness of accessibility concerns in web development
