Welcome to Coffee&Code - Coding Challenge #001

To kick off a series of challenges, our first will be a beginner level HTML / CSS mini project.

This event is ideal for those who are new to coding, or those who would like to revisit / practice front-end development, in a relaxed and supportive environment. Our challenges will simulate real-world development projects and we'll pair / team up with 2 guest mentors attending to help guide us all through, to improve our existing skills:

Dr. David Cutting:
David is an award-winning, Computer Science lecturer and author, with background in IT consulting. Having completed an MSc and PhD at the University of East Anglia, he is now a Lecturer (Education) at Queen's University.

Ciara Magee:
Ciara, a Queen’s University Computer Science student, is currently a Software Engineer in placement at Kainos and also teaches A-Level Software Systems Development in her spare time.

Our sponsor, Clockwise Belfast, a flexible co-working space based in the newly renovated and stunning River House building in the Cathedral Quarter, is kindly providing a fantastic space and hot beverages to keep us going on a Saturday morning! For more info on Clockwise Belfast check out:

All levels and ages (18 to 100!) are welcome to join. All you need to bring is your own laptop, your favourite IDE / editor (eg. Sublime, Atom) and a problem-solving attitude!

For those who are completely new to coding, we recommend before joining this event having a go at some of the basic HTML / CSS exercises on For those who have some experience, we'll provide a few more complex features to try if you're powering on ahead : )

Look forward to seeing you there!
