Northern Ireland Startup Forum Launch

Involved in the business of startups? Interested in startup companies? Angel or fund investor? Advisor? Wantreprenuer?

The first meeting of the Northern Ireland Startup Forum kindly hosted by Belfast City Council takes place on June 5th at the Great Hall in Belfast City Hall from 12pm - 3pm.

The agenda of this initial meeting is to discuss the creation of an industry led Startup Forum designed to represent the interests of Startup companies and their supporting ecosystem across Northern Ireland.

From the schoolkid thinking about a career in Startups to the retired businessperson considering their first investment the Startup ecosystem in Northern Ireland is broad but fragmented. The Northern Ireland Startup Forum is proposed to bring some organisation across these broad divides and as an attempt to give the Startup industry an authoritative and independent voice.

FAQs

Who is behind the Northern Ireland Startup Forum?

Marty Neill founder of AirPOS working with Dr David Kirk and with the assistance of Belfast City Council and Máirtín ó Muilleoir as interested parties but really everyone who has given their time to discuss the idea and suggest we should take it forward. This is not our forum, it is intended to be everyone’s forum. The intent of this first meeting is to discuss the need (or not) for a Forum of this kind and to work towards a structure for the Forum. The Forum will be led by its members, possibly via election or selection. First we decide if it's needed, next we can discuss the structure.

Who should attend?

Anyone interested in Startups or in the wider Startup ecosystem but in particular startup founders, investors and advisors who currently work in the business of startups. Tickets are free but are limited to 200, lunch will be provided. The agenda for the day is quite simply to gauge opinion and to hear various perspectives on what needs to happen next.
