IoT Security and Autonomous Vehicles

Many businesses have never heard of the Internet of Things (IoT) or understand what it really is. At this event we will discuss what the Internet of Things is and the great potential for businesses to take advantage of this and create innovative products through the IoT network already established across Northern Ireland.

At this event you will hear from:

Martin Naughton: Top 5 IoT Hacks of 2018

Security is a major concern with IoT products. Through the presentation Martin will look at the top hacks of last year and how they can avoid in development of IoT products

Dr. Áine MacDermott: The Internet of Everything

The Internet of Things (IoT) and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) are growing in prominence and adoption. However, while is it known there are associated privacy and security challenges, the benefits and value for commercial operations often outweigh these. Clearly, the IIoT has more demonstrable value. Consumer IoT is a younger market to IIoT, but as it matures there is a ‘secure by design’ standard being encouraged, and development of organisational policies and procedures. Cybersecurity, data security and privacy are key, but resilience and accountability is a more realistic action going forward. GDPR compliance and associated costs make protecting IoT devices and improving resilience and exchange logging imperative. This talk takes a security and digital forensic look at the IoT and IIoT; offering insight and analysis on this emerging paradigm and explores ‘are they more than just interconnected ‘things’?’
