Coffee&Code #007: Think Like a Computer, Walk Like a Robot!

In this session, we'll undertake a series of hopefully fun and engaging activities to explore some of the fundamental topics of programming without doing much (if any) actual programming. Using tools developed to aid algorithmic thinking we'll navigate a board using sequence, selection, and iteration. Following that we'll use Sphero robots (http://sphero.com) to explore the room and solve navigational challenges.

Huge thanks to David Cutting and Ciara Magee from the School Of Electronics, Electrical Engineering And Computer Science at Queens University Belfast, who are leading this session. Its aim is to encourage computational thinking, help understand the basis of algorithms, and roll robots around the floor!

If you're new to programming, this event is perfect for you. All equipment is provided, just bring yourself!

About Coffee&Code Belfast

Our events are ideal for those who are new to code, or those who would like to revisit / practice development, in a relaxed and supportive environment. Since January 2019, we've been meeting and working on mini challenges with HTML / CSS, Vue, React and Python.

Our sponsor, Clockwise Belfast, a flexible co-working space based in the newly renovated and stunning River House building in the Cathedral Quarter, is kindly providing a fantastic space and hot beverages to keep us going on a Saturday morning! For more info on Clockwise Belfast check out: https://workclockwise.co.uk/

All levels and ages (18 to 100!) are welcome to join. Even if you've no coding experience, please come along for a coffee and a chat and see what it's all about.
