Airbnb adds new search filters for guests with disabilities

  • Airbnb is making it easier for those with disabilities to find accessible accommodation on their platform.

The company has added 21 new filters to let people search for criteria such as step-free entry to rooms, elevators, ramps, and showers that can accommodate wheelchairs, amongst many more.

In the past, users could only search for wheelchair accessible listings, however, they could not searcher specific disability-friendly features within the property.

It’s one of a “series of steps” the company is taking to make travel more accessible, including plans to “improve and expand the filters” over time.

“As a disabled person and passionate traveller, I am hugely excited by the changes we’re making at Airbnb. With these new filters,we are making it easier for everyone to share their adapted homes with disabled travellers around the world. Our mission is to enable anyone to travel anywhere, regardless of disability,” Srin Madipalli, Accessibility Product and Program Manager at Airbnb said in a statement.
