Digital DNA's upSTART competition to have top investors on judging panel

  • The judging panel at Digital DNA's upSTART pitching competition in June will include several top investors in the UK tech scene, with more to come.

The pressure is always on when you're pitching your business at a startup competition, but Digital DNA's upSTART competition will take things up a notch by including well-known investors on the panel of judges. The competition aims to find the best technology innovations from Northern Ireland tech startups, and shine a light on ideas with high growth potential.

The judging panel will be composed of experts in early-stage businesses and the tech sector, in addition to top UK tech investors such as Amadeus Capital Partner Volker Hirsch and Siobhán Clarke, Partner at London venture capital firm Episode 1 Ventures. Also judging are Capital Pilot investment platform chair Naomi Timperley, Angel Investment Network's Head of Consultancy Sam Louise, and published business author Carl Reader.

Around 40 startups will be pitching their tech business to the panel for a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to explore New York’s tech scene and more. Those exhibiting at the conference will also be able to get some one-on-one time with the investors on the panel, an opportunity many of the companies wouldn't otherwise get.

Alastair Cameron, Head of Start-ups at Digital DNA, said: "The calibre of the upSTART judging panel is quite simply world-class. Through them, we’re letting the world know about the quality of our brilliant start-up ecosystem here in Northern Ireland. The Digital DNA team is proud to be supporting them at the early stages of their entrepreneurial journey."
