Esri Ireland gets shortlisted for Education Partnership award

  • Esri Ireland has been shortlisted for the Education Partner Award at this year's Responsible Business Awards for its ground-breaking ArcGIS for Schools initiative.

Each year, the Responsible Business Awards aim to recognise companies in Northern Ireland that take an active interest in building better workforces for the future, with a focus on sustainability and building healthy communities. The awards cover a broad range of activities and areas of improvement in the local economy.

Local firm Esri Ireland has announced that it's now been shortlisted for this year's Education Partner Award for its impressive work throughout the year in introducing GIS mapping tools to schools across the region.  The awards will take place at a gala event on Thursday 30th May at Belfast's Waterfront Hall.

Esri worked with stakeholders throughout the year to launch ArcGIS for Schools initiative. The scheme not only made Esri's accessible software available to schools but also worked with them to provide support and help them integrate the tools into the classroom where students have been engaging in their own mapping projects.

Joanne McLaughlin, ArcGIS for Schools Sponsor, Esri Ireland, said: "We are thrilled that the energy and effort the Esri Ireland team has invested in our education partnerships is being recognised as part of these prestigious awards. We have been working with schools in Northern Ireland since November 2018 as part of our ArcGIS for Schools programme, which we officially launched here in February. The feedback from schools, teachers and students has been fantastic so far."
