Belfast Business Awards 2019 shortlist announced

  • 105 companies have made the cut including Instil Software, Options Technology and FinTru.

    Over 100 of Belfast’s top businesses, including a number of tech companies, have made the shortlist for this year's Belfast Business Awards.

    Organised and hosted by Belfast Chamber with Principal Sponsor, Bank of Ireland UK, the annual awards has 21 categories, including Best Technology Based Business and Best Marketing Initiative.

    The diverse categories also include Environmental Best Practice, Best Company to Work for, and Young Business Person of the Year (under30).

    Instil Software and Options Technolgy are among the nominations for Best Business Premises, while both firms are also shortlisted in the Best Technology Based Business category alongside Icemos Technology Ltd, MRP, SaltDNA and Sugar Rush Creative.

    At the end of last year, Instil Software won the Fit Out Project of the Year - Small Office under €500k at the Fit Out Awards in Dublin. 

    Last month, the software development, consultancy and training firm also won the Business & Product Innovation award at the UK wide FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards.

    In the Best Digital Business category, Dawson Andrews, Flowlens, Groundswell, Loud Mouth Media, Made to Engage and OBBI Solutions are shortlisted.

    Commenting on this year’s shortlist Paul McClurg, Head of Business Banking Belfast from partner Bank of Ireland UK said: “We were absolutely delighted see such fantastic strength and quality across the breadth of businesses entries for this year’s awards.

    “In successfully meeting the brief for boosting business it’s making the selection process an interesting one which will positively challenge the judges.

    “At Bank of Ireland we are delighted to be part of these local business “Begin” journeys, supporting them as they progress towards achieving their ambition to be recognised as well as sharing and celebrating their talent and success, as an important part of a strong, vibrant and diverse business community in Belfast.”

    Instil Software's Tara Simpson and Icemos Technology's Samuel J Anderson also made the six person shortlist for Business person of the Year.

    Rajesh Rana, President of Belfast Chamber commented: “Once again we are truly astounded at the sheer level of excellent entries who have taken the time to showcase their business for these awards.

    “Over the next couple of weeks, a series of interviews will take place with a panel of judges to decide the overall winners in each category.
