Former Catalyst CEO Dr Norman Apsley named chair of Ledcom after impressive job creation year

  • Dr Norman Apsley has been confirmed as the new chairman of Ledcom (Local Economic Development Company) in Larne, a move that follows his retirement as CEO of Catalyst Inc this month.

    Back in June, Dr Norman Apsley announced plans to retire as CEO of Catalyst Inc after an impressive 18-year career that has seen the enterprise hub grow to encompass around 200 companies employing over 3,000 engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs and executives.

    Now it has been confirmed that Dr Apsley will become the new chairman of Ledcom (Local Economic Development Company) in Larne. Ledcom currently employs 350 staff and has 54 tenant business benefitting from support and managed workspace, and has been directly responsible for creating over 235 jobs in 2018 with a financial boost of £5 million.

    Ledcom Chief Executive Ken Nelson stated to various news sources, "We look forward to his advice and influence. I would also like to pay tribute to our outgoing chair Henry Fletcher who has been a great servant to Ledcom and the business life of this area for many years." Dr Apsley was equally positive about the position, saying "Ledcom's record of economic development in Northern Ireland over more than 33 years is second to none."
