Google Pay support announced by Danske Bank

  • From today Danske Bank customers will be able to use Google Pay in shops, online and in apps. 

    Google pay is a simple, fast way to pay using your smartphone at millions of places – on websites, in smartphone apps, and in stores everywhere that accept contactless payments. The service uses advanced security infrastructure to protect payments so your account will always be safe, and until today it wasn't available to Danske Bank customers.

    Danske account holders can now easily add Google Pay to their Danske card by downloading an application from the Google Play store on Android or the App Store on iOS, or by visiting Smartphone ownership rates have risen by 76% according to a recent OFCOM Communications Market Report and most phones contain an NFC chip that's compatible with Google Pay.

    Head of Digital Customer Experience Kris Thompson explained that "Google Pay functions as a digital version of a contactless bank card, using compatible android devices such as smartphones or smartwatches," adding that "Customers can just tap their phone on the contactless reader at the till and not have to worry about digging their card out or carrying around large sums of cash."
