At the Ballymena Business Improvement District’s Annual General Meeting earlier this month, Clive Kyle assumed the appointment of chairman with former chairman Andy Storey, taking over the role of vice chairman.
Clive, who retired in October 2015 as an Assistant Director from the local Council, is currently the President of the Rotary Club of Ballymena. His previous work and role with the Council included working with many of the retailers and current BID members.
Speaking about his new appointment, Clive Kyle said, “Although I retired a few years ago I’ve been fortunate to be involved in many local organisations; the Rotary Club of Ballymena, the Portglenone Community Association for over 30 years and as a Director of the Portglenone Enterprise Group (PEG).
“It is important to me that I can help other organisations and utilise my vast experience. During my time working with Council, I dealt with everything from building control to energy and licensing. I want to be able to bring my knowledge and expertise to bear.
“I am very pleased to have been elected as chairman of Ballymena BID. It will be an honour to contribute to a town that I love and know so well. Given that I’m new to the BID, I intend to take a little time listening to the members and finding out all that is good about the BID and also look to see how I can add real value during my tenure.
“The BID continues to invest time and effort in a number of projects, to help improve the local trading environment, drive down business costs and increase footfall to the BID area. We are very fortunate in that Ballymena is a great shopping destination and one where I would encourage everyone, if not to shop local in our wonderful town but also to come to Ballymena and see the great mix of eateries and bars, high street shops along with the many independents shops too.
“You are sure to get the warmest of Ballymena welcomes from our BID members.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Andy Storey for his work over this last year.”
Vice chairman and Boots Manager, Andy Storey added; “I’m very happy to continue my work with the BID and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of vice chairman and working with Clive [Kyle]. Continuing to put the businesses in the BID area is at the forefront of what we do, ensuring we help each other, come together and work as one.
