Fujitsu welcomes 14 new apprentices in Northern Ireland

  • Technology company Fujitsu has appointed 14 new apprentices in Northern Ireland.

    Working in partnership with Belfast Metropolitan College and North-West Regional College (NWRC), the new positions are based in Belfast and Derry across roles including software development and IT support.

    As well as developing core digital skills, gaining workplace experience, and benefiting from mentoring support, apprentices immediately become a part of Fujitsu’s two-year Junior Talent development programme and focus on developing business and leadership skills.

    The highly successful apprenticeship scheme at Fujitsu has been running since 2012 and provides career progression opportunities with up to 90% of apprentices moving into permanent positions with Fujitsu.

    Welcoming the latest cohort Hannah Whelan, Junior Talent Programme Lead at Fujitsu said, “Through Fujitsu’s Junior Talent programme, apprentices are provided with all the necessary training and support they need when starting with us as well as hands-on practical learning experiences where they gain invaluable knowledge in key digital areas such as cloud application development, cyber security, and networking infrastructure. Students also benefit from a two-year development programme which offers courses in leadership and business awareness, supporting them in areas they will need to be successful in their careers at Fujitsu.”

    Hannah added: “Developing future leaders is integral to Fujitsu’s success. Our aim is not only to inspire the next generation but to provide them with the essential practical skills to thrive in the ever-evolving digital sector in Northern Ireland.”
